"WorldShift, set in a world of chaos between the tribe, the humans and the cult. Who will win? Who knows we wont know until release date but for now. We have a hands-on look at WorldShift."
World Shift is one of PlayV’s biggest titles which will be released to the PC very soon, Here at PC Gamer Showdown we managed to have a good blast of what to expect from this exciting RTS which features a great hero system joint with a unique resource management system. World shift is a Sci-Fi based RTS which 3 warring factions are battling it out to redeem their lost land! The Tribes, Humans & the Cult
The” tribes” race are you typical brawny bulked humans which have some advance technology but prefer to mix magic with technology to get an advantage over the enemies. The “humans” depend in pure strength and machinery to crush their foe’s where as the “cult” use advanced weaponry to decimate countless enemies. The races are all varied and each one plays out very differently. I didn’t get to play much of the game; I just had a little skirmish in which featured me playing as the humans and the enemy as the robots.

You have no base building, you however do have a command post. This is where all of your units and hero’s are made. Units and hero’s use resources which are gathered when you capture and claim certain nodes placed all along the maps. These are vital to your war effort. You can also capture powerful and permanent relics for you to use in your campaigns which makes so much easier. There's no technology tree so the relics are pretty much necessary for your survival.
Now you might be thinking. No Base Building? No harvesting of resources? No Tech Tree? And you’re thinking to yourself well this sounds pretty bland. But let me tell you that it is far from that! World Shift merges clever hero RPG style elements into a smooth RTS game which works. All units can heal from special powers off your hero or yourself. So it’s important to make sure your hero stands at all time. You do have special abilities which you can place at any part of the map which was quite enjoyable. I had a massive grin after using the humans tornado ability to completely waste an enemy attack.

Multiplayer will be a massive part of this game as you can constantly level up with your hero’s and play other’s online with the relics that you have previously captured. I’m quite excited as I always love the hero units in strong RTS games and World shift seems to be one of them!
World shift’s graphics and sound effects are very well designed. With some elements of design which I’ve never seen before in any game. All background environments move in the wind and this is helped with some amazing fog effects which are layered around the locations. I have heard the campaign and story mode will be quite deep covering the entire fiction behind the game, so hopefully once the game hits UK release I will be grabbing a full review for you guys to read!
